FAQ

No worries, we get these questions a lot.

-What do you do?

Rescued Relics Studio is a working studio as well as a place to buy your favorite paint project supplies. We sell Amy Howard products, Paint Couture products, Plutonium Paint products, and Royal Design Studio stencils. We offer classes, one on one instruction, workshops, Studio Hours, and Private Paint Parties. Our goal is to help you love your furniture.

-What kind of paint is it?

Amy Howard paint is a chalk based paint that dries quickly and adheres to nearly everything. It is  low VOC and safe for the environment. We can teach you to use it right away.  Our studio time provides an opportunity for us to help you use the paint correctly on your own furniture.  Classes will develop your knowledge and skills to use the paint to get all if your desired effects.

Paint Couture paint is an acrylic resin based Paint that goes on most surfaces and looks very professional. Paint Couture is a self priming, decor, furniture, and cabinet paint available in 52 colors. Paint Couture has a great adhesion capability to existing painted or varnished surfaces. Most of the paints are Zero VOC. All of the Couture products (Paint, Glaze, Lacquer and Gilding Waxes) are made In the USA.  Our classes will help you become proficient is using it and you will be very proud of the finished product.

You can check out all of the products we carry here and get the low down.

-Is this a consignment shop?

Technically no, but we do accept your finished pieces on consignment.  We will advertise them through our website, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest.  We can also provide space in one of our antique booths.

-Will you do it for me?

Sure, we will take on projects and individual pieces on a commission basis. We’d be happy to talk to you about the pricing for your project. Please contact us!

-Do you have to sand, prime, or strip?

Well, we don’t condone stripping in our shop, but whatever you want to do in your own space is perfectly fine. Seriously, though, unless the piece is raw, rough wood sanding is unnecessary. If your piece is rich in tannins, a sealer to keep the tannins from seeping through your paint may be in order. However, for the majority of pieces, the only prep required is a thorough cleaning.

-Can we buy furniture from you to paint?

Yep! Call us if you’re looking for a specific piece or style and we’ll see what we can do. Or you can  come in the shop, look around, and if you fancy something, let us know.  Nearly everything in our shop is for sale and we have furniture rotating in and out constantly.

-Is any of the furniture in here [the shop] for sale?

Nearly everything in our shop is for sale! We have furniture rotating in and out of our shop constantly, so if you don’t see anything you like when you come in, just come back next week!

-Can we bring some booze/bubbly to studio hours or to a private party?

You must be 21 years of age or older to drink in Florida. Our Studio is in Florida. As long as you are of age, yes. Yes, you may bring in your favorite adult beverage to enjoy while you paint.  Please remember that although we allow you to bring your own alcohol, we do want everyone (and his or her newly painted furniture) to get home safely and happily, so please drink responsibly while in the Studio.

-I’m not very crafty, can i do this and have it not look awful?

Yes! You do not need to be an expert to use these products and finish with a beautiful piece. We are here to answer any questions you have. You can email us at kim@rescuedrelicsstudio.com or message us on our Facebook page at any time and we’ll get back to you ASAP.

If you are still uncertain about technique or how to tackle your project, come to one of our classes. Our classes vary from beginner and 101 level to more advanced techniques. We also have a free class every month. Yes, a FREE CLASS! Check out the dates for this month here.

If you are more comfortable with us being around to help you in the midst of your project, schedule a reserved block to come in for a Studio Time session or check out our walk-in Studio Hours here.

-Can you mix the colors so I can match              ?
